Zonez is a community for talking about games, film, sport, and whatever else a Zone is built around. You join a room, post a thread, light a Beacon, chat live, or browse the radar. This page says what we collect to run that, and how advertising sits next to it — not on top of it.
WHAT ZONEZ IS
The product is original: Zones with rules and flairs, a live radar, XP from Lurker to Legend, anonymous posting with a public tag, Beacons that burn out in 24 hours, a categorized directory, and a reviews loop. We do not scrape other sites to fill the lobby. Empty rooms stay empty until people show up.
ACCOUNTS AND WHAT WE STORE
If you register, we store the username and email you give us, a hashed password (never plaintext), and the XP / rank / profile fields you edit. Login uses a session token in your browser. Anonymous browse does not create an account. Password-reset and verify links are one-time and expire.
Posts, Beacons, chat, DMs, follows, and reports you submit are stored so the community can see them. Anonymous posts are stored without an author id — we cannot map them back to an account.
ADVERTISING
zonez.net uses Google AdSense (publisher ca-pub-6396285394716461) to show ads in reserved boxes labeled “Advertisement.” Those boxes sit under the page header and in the footer. They are not menu items and they do not cover the radar, chat, Beacon bar, or directory. Google may use cookies or similar tech to serve and measure those ads. COOKIES AND LOCAL DATA
We use a session token when you sign in, and the browser may keep local Zonez state so a refresh does not wipe an unfinished post. AdSense may set its own cookies. You can clear site data in your browser; you will be signed out.
WHO WE SHARE WITH
We do not sell your email list. Hosting is on Cloudflare. Mail for verify/reset goes through our mail provider when that path is live. Google receives what AdSense needs to fill the reserved units. We do not hand your password to anyone — we never store it in a form we can read.
YOUR CHOICES
You can browse anonymously, leave a Zone, unfollow, and log out. To close an account or ask what we hold, use SIGNAL from the Zonez chrome (it is available even if you have not finished signup) or write to the operator of zonez.net from the email on your account.
CHILDREN
Zonez is not directed at children under 13. Adult Zones are gated 18+. Do not create an account for a child.
