About

Last updated 28 September 2026 · zonez.net

Zonez is a community forum and live-chat hybrid at zonez.net. Rooms are called Zones. You enter one the way you would a game lobby: Reddit-style threads on one side, Discord-style live chat on the other, plus anonymous posting, XP, and ranks, in one app.

WHAT YOU CAN DO

The signed-in app is built around a few surfaces that stay on the same domain:

• ZONES — small rooms with their own rules, flairs, tags (including NSFW / 18+), threads sorted HOT / NEW / TOP / RISING, and a live chat. Members can follow a Zone, pin a thread, mark one solved, quote, react with stickers, save a post, give an award, or file a report.
• WORLD — a site-wide feed, separate from the personal feed of Zones you follow.
• MARKET — user listings. There is no payment processor wired in. A listing is a post, not a checkout.
• REVIEWS — fan scores (1–10) for movies, shows, anime, and games. There are no professional critic scores. A review is a thread with a score attached.
• RADAR — a circular map of Zones, titles, people, and listings. Distance is meant to encode taste affinity once you have ratings. The radar is never the only way to reach a page: the same destinations sit in a normal list.
• BEACON — a 24-hour status drop pinned at the top of a Zone, then gone.
• DIRECTORY — a categorized browser of Zones.
• DMs — request / accept / deny, not an open inbox dump.

ACCOUNTS AND ANONYMITY

You can register with a username, email, and password; log in with username or email; browse anonymously without an account; or use emailed verify and password-reset links. Anonymous posts get a short public tag generated on the server (for example #X7K2) and are stored without an author id. Rank is derived from XP. The ladder is Lurker → Rookie → Regular → Zone Rep → Zone Boss → Legend.

WHAT THIS IS NOT

Zonez does not scrape other sites to fill empty rooms. Starter Zones ship empty and stay empty until people post. There is no invented member count, no demo account, and no critic score. Adult Zones are gated behind an 18+ confirm. The product is not directed at children under 13.

WHO BUILDS IT

Zonez is built by one person. Hosting is Cloudflare. The public site is zonez.net. SIGNAL, inside the app chrome, is how you send feedback (bug, idea, content, or other) even if you have not finished signup. Direct donation links are not published — they are left blank on purpose so a guessed URL does not send money to a stranger.
